The “Lion King” of all Holdens, the Commodore based HSV W427 is now available for order in 
Designed as Australia’s answer to the BMW M5, the HSV W427 is equipped with the Corvette Z06’s 7.0-liter or 427.ci LS7 V8 engine developing a thundering 503Hp (375kW) and 640Nm of torque. Even though production has started, HSV has yet to release any official performance figures but we pretty sure that Holden’s four-door muscle car won’t leave anyone disappointed. -Photos after the jump
Holden’s specialty vehicles unit – aka HSV, announced today that it will be adding a station-wagon version of the Commodore to its high-performance model line-up. Dubbed HSV Tourer, the supped up Commodore VE Sportwagon will go on sale with specifications similar to the ClubSport R8. Although HSV said that price and final specifications will be confirmed closer to start of sale, expect the Tourer to be equipped with the same exact 425 Hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine as the recently revised R8 Saloon.
Back in the beginning of the 1990’s, Vauxhall -Opel’s Nearly two decades after, Vauxhall found the Lotus Carlton’s spiritual successor in the form of the Aussie made, VXR8 which is practically a rebadged Holden Commodore based HSV Clubsport R8. The muscle-car party in Australia just keeps going on and on; HSV or Holden Special Vehicles, unwrapped the LS7 V8 powered W427 Commodore at the Melbourne Motor Show. While power output figures are still to be confirmed, the W427’s 7.0-liter or 427 c.i. V8 engine is likely to produce in excess of 496 Hp and 640 Nm or 472 lb/ft of torque.
