Video: Audi R8 Blackbird Puts KITT to Shame

Bearing the codename “Blackbird”, this souped up Audi R8 has more gadgets than Battlestar Galactica. Among other things, the blacked out German supercar gets four GPS units, a police scanner, a kill switch for the rear lights, two radar detectors, a CB radio, high-speed Internet with Wi-Fi running on a laptop, a remote-controlled exhaust bypass valve and the best of all, the so-called “liquid-cooled infrasonic wave pulse generator”. Video: Audi Q7 vs Fiat 500 Crash Test from ADAC

Try to imagine what would happen if a large SUV like the Audi Q7 crashed into a small mini car like the Fiat 500. Not sure? Well, Germany’s automobile club ADAC performed a “David vs Goliath” crash test between the two cars, but unlike the biblical story, David aka the Fiat 500, did not even come close to winning this match.

The two cars collided head on at an average speed of 56 km/h (around 35mph). According to ADAC, whereas the driver and passengers of the Audi Q7 would have made it out of the crash with minor and non life-threatening injuries, the risk of serious injuries in the Fiat 500 was surprisingly high for both front and rear passengers. However despite what you may think, ADAC’s prime objective wasn’t to show that a large SUV is safer than a minicar but to point out that automakers should take smaller sized vehicles into consideration when they design a large size model. –Video after the jump

Video: Audi TT RS at the Nurburgring

The highly anticipated Audi TT RS has been caught on tape by an amateur videographer on the famous Nurburgring race track in Germany. Slated to be released sometime in 2009, the RS will be the top of the line model in the TT range competing against rivals such as the BMW Z4 M Coupe and the Porsche Cayman S.

It has been said, but not officially confirmed, that the TT RS will make use of a turbocharged version of VW’s U.S. spec 2.5-litre five-cylinder petrol engine. Then again, we say, why should Audi go into all that trouble to transform an old engine into one that will have to comply with the strict European emission standards when it has already developed an all-new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 TFSi unit for the new S4 that could easily be pushed to deliver over 360Hp? -Video after the jump

Audi Q5 Beijing Show Presentation Video

One of the most important worldwide premieres that took place at this weekend’s Beijing Auto Show is without doubt, the 2009 Audi Q5 (details and high-res images here). As it would do at any other major car show around the globe, Audi staged a “theatrical” debut for its compact-sized SUV in China. The German carmaker’s presentation included female and male models, dancers, bikers and a bit of sweet-talk from one of its execs. Check out the video right after the jump.

Ultra Cool 2009 Audi RS6 Gymnastics TV Advert

Usually, and unless there’s a nice gal hidden somewhere – or everywhere as in the case of the Greek Chevy Matiz TV Ad, car adverts can be pretty boring and utterly predictable. But once in a while we find car adverts like the 2009 Audi RS6 commercial that manage to truly amaze us. Created by UK adverting agency BBH, the 60-second TV spot shows a bunch of gymnasts completing a choreographed routine that represent five moving parts of the car: the pistons, the cylinder bank, the crankshaft, the twin turbochargers and the wheels. –Check out the video after the jump

SoundBits: Audi R8 with Edo-Competition Exhaust System

Just in case you’re not sure if Edo-Competition’s exhaust system will sound like music to your ears, the German sports car tuner has released a video showing off both the standard and tweaked Audi R8’s “sound-system”. The new performance exhaust system from Edo-Competition will not only grab the attention of everybody around a car park for example, but it will also give an extra 22 Hp and 20 Nm (15 ft-lb) to the R8’s V8 unit. –Check out the video after the jump

New Iron Man Trailer Featuring the Audi R8

Earlier today we told about the launch of a new microsite by Audi dedicated to the carmaker's product placement in Paramount’s movie version of “Iron Man” (see details here). In the movie, Tony Spark drives an R8 while his female assistant Virginia, an S5. Along with the microsite the German automaker also released a special trailer that is made up of exclusive scenes from the movie and Audi R8 road shots. Video: Audi TTS Coupe & Roadster 272HP

The first-ever “S” model in the TT’s 10-year-long history (two generations) is equipped with a modified version of the of the 2.0-litre Turbo FSI petrol engine delivering 272PS and peak torque of 350Nm between 2,500 and 5,000rpm. Offered in both Coupe and Roadster variants, the TTS Coupe with the standard 6-speed manual gearbox (DSG offered optionally) sprints from nought to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.6 seconds while its top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h or 155mph. -Click here for details and pics, follow the jump for the Video

As if the leaked scans of the upcoming Audi R8 V12 TDi study weren’t already enough, an official video made its way into the internet today leaving only a few things to our imagination when the concept car makes its public debut at the Detroit Show opening this Sunday (Jan. 13). The R8 V12 TDi study is powered by a V12 turbocharged diesel engine that produces 500 HP and an astonishing 1,000 Nm or 738 lbs/ft of torque. -Video after the jump

2008 Audi A3 Cabriolet Promotional Video

Although we weren’t exactly thrilled about the new A3 Cabriolet’s appearance (see details and high-res images here), journalist friends of ours that saw the car up close during the media presentation in Hungary support that it looks much better in person. We don’t know if Audi’s new promotional video gives you a better sense of the car’s exterior looks, but that’s the best we can do for the time being. Check it out and tell us what you think.

Video: Audi R8 Going 200mph - 322 km/h

According to Audi, the 420Hp strong R8 can achieve a top speed of 301 km/h or 187 mph. However, these guys managed to take the R8 up to 322 km/h or 200 mph. In any case, its more than impressive the way the R8 accelerates from standstill to its top speed. Video after the jump

Video: Lexus IS-F vs Audi RS4

On the top left corner we have an all-new contender in the high-performance sedan category, the rear-wheel-drive 2009 Lexus IS-F packed with a 5.0-litre V8 engine pumping out 416 Hp. On the opposite side, we have an old friend who’s just one-step from retirement, the all-wheel-drive Audi RS4 with a 420 Hp 4.2-litre V8. 2009 Audi Q5 Caught On Video!

Unlike the bizarre Cross Cabriolet Quattro Concept that made its premier at the Los Angeles Auto Show (click here), the production version of Audi’s BMW X3 adversary has 5-doors and a steady roof-top. Despite the camouflage, the Q5 that’s seen in the video looks production ready. And it better be if the rumours about a Detroit Motor Show debut in January 2008 are real. The Q5 will share many of its underpinnings with the new Audi A4 & A5 models, including the 160 Hp 1.8 TSI, 265 Hp 3.2 V6 FSI and 240 Hp 3.0 TDi units.

2007 Tokyo: Audi A1 Concept Presentation Video

Audi R8 Advert: "The Slowest Car We’ve Ever Built"

As we told you last week, Audi launched a new U.K. market TV campaign which focuses on the fact that the new R8 might be one of the fastest kids around the block but when it comes to production, it actually has the by far the slowest build process of all Audi models. The advert aired on Wednesday, Oct 17 during the Russia vs. England Euro 2008 football qualifier match (despite Wayne Rooney’s fantastic goal, England lost 2-1 to Russia).

Video: Audi TT Dropped Into Pool For A Magazine Cover Shoot!

Once upon a time, magazines used Photoshop to create stunning magazine covers. Well actually they still do, but not all of them. Intersection mag, sunk an Audi TT 3.2 V6 into a pool along with a female model for the needs of a photo shoot. And while they were at it, they filmed the whole process in order to create a little buzz about themselves in the net. Audi has released a new promotional video of the 2008 A4 with driving scenes from what seems to be a seaside B-road somewhere in the Mediterranean. Damn, this video just gave me summer nostalgia and we're not even past the middle of frigging September! Bad Germans bad... 5th Gear: Audi S5 vs BMW 335i

In the left hand corner we have the 2008 Audi S5. Weighing in at 1,705 kg (3,759 lbs), the AWD S5 is powered by a 354 Hp natural aspirated 4.2L V8 engine. In the right hand corner, there’s the 2008 BMW 335i Coupe. Though it’s twin-turbo 3.0L straight six is less powerful than the S5’s V8 delivering a “mere” 306 Hp to the rear-wheels, it also weighs less at 1,600 kg (3,527 lbs).
