Mysterious F430 Based Ferrari Scooped in Maranello

An unknown Ferrari that seems to be based on the F430 has been caught testing outside the Italian automaker’s facilities in Maranello. These pictures that come to us from a reader of our Dutch friends over at Autoblog.nl show a mid-engined supercar that looks to be production ready – notice the absence of any type of camouflage. Although there’s a possibility that the supercar featured in these scoop photos could be a revised version of the current F430, we’re leaning towards a coach built model created for an ultra-rich customer with the blessings of Ferrari. -Image gallery after the jump

Video: Schumacher Takes VIPs for a Spin in F430 Scuderia

Having the chance to perform a few laps on the Fiorano race track with a Ferrari is one thing, but to do it with Michael Schumacher sitting behind the steering wheel of a F430 Scuderia is a once in a lifetime experience. From what we learned, this special event was organized exclusively for VIP Ferrari customers (sources of ours said that the admission price was around €8,000 or $12,500). We must say though that it’s kind of sad to see one of the best drivers in F1’s history downgraded to taking wealthy middle-aged men for joy rides… -Video after the jump

Would you be tempted to take out $110k from your bank account to acquire a semi-burnt 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider? The damage looks fixable at first sight and a new F430 Spider would actually set you back more than $200k. However, we’re talking about a Ferrari and you all know what that means when it comes to repairs – let alone the huge depreciation in value that these cars suffer after an accident. The seller, which happens to specialize in Ferrari parts, has created a list with most (not all…) of the things you’ll need to replace. Ferrari F430 Spider Bites The Dust, Luckily Passengers Survive

Another day, another Ferrari accident. This one, involving a F430 Spider occurred on the Dutch highway A58 and as you can see in the pictures, the Italian roadster was totalled. According to Dutch newspapers, the two passengers of the car, the driver and his baby where tossed out of the car but luckily, they both managed to survive without life-threatening injuries. -One more pic after the jump

Detroit Show: Ferrari F430 Spider Bio-Fuel Concept

You know that something’s definitely changing in the automotive world when Ferrari decides to show off a biofuel-powered concept. Based on the F430 Spider, the prototype is equipped with a V8 engine that runs on biofuel E85 which was developed with using experience gained in competition. In particular, Formula 1’s technical regulations demand that petrol (gasoline) with 5.75% biomass-derived content must be used, while the FIA GT and American Le Mans Series (ALMS) where Ferrari took part with the F430 GT2 in 2007, use fuels with 10% ethanol. -Continued

According to Ferrari, certain modifications were made to the F430 V8’s fuel feed system and most importantly to the engine CPU to allow the engine use E85. Developing the CPU, two fuels (Flex Fuel) can be used by the engine with the same compression ratio. All of the other technical characteristics have remained unchanged with respect to a standard production engine, however. The use of this type of biofuel and the modifications made resulted in an increase in maximum power output (+ 10 hp at the same rpm) and torque (+ 4%) while overall weight was unchanged. The advantages to the environment translate into a 5% drop in CO₂ emissions
