A prototype version of Skoda’s latest competition vehicle, the Fabia Super 2000 rally car will make its first appearance at the 35th Rally
The two millionth Skoda Fabia to be produced has just rolled off the Czech carmaker’s production line in the Mladá Boleslav plant. The commemorative model is a Satin grey metallic Fabia Combi Sport 1.4. Launched in January 2008, the new generation estate has been delivered to 19,503 customers around the world while when one includes hatchback sales, the total number of new Fabias sold this year reaches 63,579 units, an 8.5% rise over last year.
Czech carmaker Skoda has announced the launch of a new sport package for its new Fabia II supermini. Named “Dynamic”, the new sport kit adds a front spoiler, a chromed exhaust tip, a roof spoiler, tinted rear windows and a diffuser like rear bumper add-on along with standard air-condition all for the price of 990 Euros or about $1,500 in
Skoda’s That means that on a single tank of diesel a Fabia GreenLine driver can expect to cover an incredible 689 miles or 75 miles more than the stanbard Fabia 1.4 TDI. Buyers can opt for either hatchback or estate versions of this latest addition to the Fabia family, which cost £11,490 and £12,140 respectively.
While we would have preferred it if the Fabia pictured above was an RS version fitted with the VW Group’s 2.0 TFSI petrol unit (the one found in the Golf GTi, TT-S etc), this is the first prototype of the Fabia Super 2000 Rally car that will compete in the Super 2000 category. The race-prepped Skoda is based on the second-generation Fabia and, in compliance with the FIA regulations, is equipped with a two-litre atmospheric four-cylinder petrol engine, a six-speed sequential transmission and a four-wheel drive system with three mechanical differentials. -Continued
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Eckhard Scholz, Škoda Auto BOD Member responsible for technological development, said: “We are glad to have started testing the Fabia Super 2000. This year we are planning to optimise and certify the vehicle so that we can use it on both national and international levels.”
“When exactly will the vehicle be released for competition use will depend on the achieved progress, relevant test results and the final certification. Then we are also planning to offer the vehicle to private teams. Based on a customer service arrangement, further development work on the vehicle will be done in close cooperation with our importers worldwide“, Scholz added.
Martin Lauer, Head of Corporate Communications, adds: “The history of over hundred years of involvement in motorsport is unique, and we are proud to be able to continue the success story with the Fabia Super 2000. We believe that the vehicle will become a successful part of this tradition, because car racing is popular all over the world and offers great opportunities to promote our products“.
Czech carmaker Skoda unveiled a new addition to its U.K. Fabia line-up, the Sport which will sit atop the supermini range alongside the current Fabia 3 flagship. Compared to the standard versions, the Fabia Sport gets a new front spoiler, 16-inch alloy wheels, boot spoiler, a chrome exhaust pipe and rear diffuser. Prices start at £10,660 and £11,735 respectively for the 1.2 12V (70bhp) and 1.6 16V (105bhp) petrols. The diesel duo cost £12,115 for the 1.4 TDI (80bhp) and £12,795 for the larger 1.9TDI (105bhp). The first deliveries are expected at the end of January 2008.
We gathered up a few pictures of the Fabia Scout concept that is expected to go into production by mid-2008. Basically a Fabia Combi in off-road trim, the Scout features large cladding sections in the bodywork and slightly raised ground clearance. There’s no all-wheel-drive system but if we were forced with a gun in our head to buy a Combi, the Scout would definitely be the one we’d choose. -More pictures after the jump

PRESS RELEASE: NEW SKODA FABIA ESTATE
Skoda is set to unveil the new Fabia Estate at September’s International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt.
The latest edition to the Czech firm’s line-up is larger in every respect than its predecessor. Skoda’s new load-lugger is 7mm longer and 46mm higher than the model it replaces. Its enhanced dimensions (4,239mm long, 1,642mm wide and 1,498mm tall) not only give the car a more imposing road stance, but also allow for a far larger interior.
Boot capacity has grown by an impressive 54 litres (up to 480 litres). With the rear seats folded flat a total of 1,460 litres stowage space is offered (235 litres more than before). This impressive figure is not only class-leading in its own segment, but even gives similar models from the class above food for thought.
Buyers will have the choice of six engines altogether (three petrol and three diesel). The range starts with the 1.2 12V HTP (70bhp). The 1.4 16V (85bhp) and 1.6 16V (105bhp) are also offered. The diesel line-up consists of the 1.4 TDI PD (70bhp), 1.4 TDI PD (80bhp) and 1.9 TDI PD (105bhp). All of the powerplants are mated to a five-speed manual transmission, but the 1.6 16V version is also available with a six-speed auto (Tiptronic) as an option. Trim designators, as with the Fabia hatchback, will be simply 1, 2 and 3.
Besides its fresh new ‘Skoda family’ design, the latest Fabia Estate also offers a number of clever features deigned to enhance convenience and make the lives of passengers and drivers more comfortable. Key strengths include the impressive boot capacity, the roomy passenger space, an abundance of storage trays, hooks and cubby holes to keep possessions secure and a boot roller cover with automatic quick release - with one touch the cover is retracted making loading and unloading quick and easy.
Skoda has sold over 630,000 first-generation Fabia Estate worldwide (production of this model will continue until the end of this year).
Apparently this isn’t a typical road-going Skoda; it’s a unique rally car created by Czech spark-plug manufacture Brisk in collaboration with Prodrive. Albeit Brisk’s spec-sheet is available only in Czech, it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to make ends meet. Based on a first generation Fabia, the RS 01 WRC gets a coupe body that actually doesn’t look half-bad and a supped-up 2.0TFSI engine -yes, the same as in the VW Golf GTI and Audi S3 models among others, producing 500Hp @ 7.800 rpm and 600Nm @ 3.700 rpm. Combine that with a weight of just 1.000kg or 2.200 pounds and the 2.7 sec time for the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) that Brisk announces makes (some) sense.According to the Czech spark-plug manufacture, the RS 01 WRC is ready to be tested in rallies both nationally and abroad. In addition, Brisk says that promotional events and test drives for journalists and the general public have been planned for the immediate future. -Full Image gallery and the specs after the jump

Well, not much of a concept since Skoda has announced that it’ll offer a white-painted roof for the new Fabia (photos below). Only difference is that this one draws its uniqueness due to the silver painted roof & mirror covers and the pearl-black body color. So, I guess at the Frankfurt show we’ll see a Fabia concept with a white colored roof "dressed" with the British err, sorry I mean the Czech flag? -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the press release and more photos

Along with the “civilian” version Skoda also presented a racing study of its second generation Fabia hatch. The Fabia S2000 has been designed to comply with the new FIA Rally Regulations so as to compete in the 2008 IRC (Intercontinental Rally Challenge). In accordance with the regulations, the 4WD Fabia S2000 is equipped with a two-litre, four-cylinder normally aspirated petrol engine that delivers 280Hp. -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see additional images & the official press release PRESS RELEASE: THESKODA RALLY CAR STUDY
Skoda is going to continue in the more than one hundred years old motor sport tradition (anniversary was celebrated in 2001). The concept car S2000 was presented for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2007. It is an attractive demonstration of how the car producer will take up the great tradition again.
The S2000 is a concept car on the basis of the second generation Fabia Hatchback and has been designed to comply with the new FIA Rally Regulations. In accordance with the regulations, the car will have a two-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine.
The study Super 2000 exhibits fundamental benchmark data – 3,992 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,486 mm correspond to the values of the new Fabia. A clear difference to the serial model, however, is the 4WD, the roll cage in the interior and further parts of the car in compliance with the regulations.
